The Proof Of The Pudding Is In The Reading

I can’t claim to be a literary genius, and similarly I can’t claim to be in possession of perfect grammatical prowess either. However it does bother me that grammatical standards are slipping all over the place. From people using the number 8 in words such as mate or hate, the term “wiv” and using the word of when they mean off.

What pisses me off even more though is that newspapers are also falling into these failings, especially local papers. It amazes me that in this day and age that local newspapers actually manage to survive, especially with the amount of spelling and grammatical errors. Even worse still is that these mistakes are making their way into the online editions.

A Rather Shocking Mistake By The South Wales Argus

Sometimes it can come at a really inappropriate time too. I guess we all make mistakes, but you expect newspapers to pay someone to make sure the public don’t notice.
